ANNA'S CLIMATE CHANGE FEEDBACK PAGE

Hi Anna, Your promotion of climate change is great. Really impressed by what you have done. I would like to feature your info on the BUC Women's ministries website www.letsconnect.org.uk.
We have featured Sharon PlattMcdonald's Eco series she did for the Messenger but it would be great to showcase what you and others are doing. I would probably do this by links to your site. What do you think?
God bless,
Heather

Anna,
In all the climate change debate one important factor is often left out. CO2 is not the only greenhouse gas, nor is it the most potent. Methane(CH4) is at least 13 times more of a greenhouse gas than CO2 is; unlike CO2, which is denser than air, CH4 is less dense than air. CO2 can be taken up by green plants in photosynthesis; it is also water-soluble, and can be removed from the air by rain. Nitrous oxide(N2O) is also less dense than air; it comes from the use of nitrogenous fertiliser. Another joker in the pack is water vapour - yes, simple H2O - that's why cloudy nights tend to be milder than clear ones!
Some H2O and CO2 got into the upper atmosphere via high-flying jet aircraft; CH4 results from the anaerobic digestion of cellulose; at times it can build up near houses to cause serious explosions if the gas/air mix is right. Its main origin is from bogs and to a lesser extent from landfill rubbish sites.
All of which goes to show that the whole business of climate change is not so simple. Shocking as this might sound to current climate change orthodoxy, I would advocate bringing back the old-fashioned back boilers - serves to heat the radiators in winter! Also, let's plant more forests - that will help take up the CO2, also when harvested will provide an alternative to oil and gas for home heating.
Anyway, keep up the good work, and don't let that silly comment from Alaska put you off! Barry Gowland, Milton Keynes.11:49 on Tuesday 12th January 2010

I had no idea there was this much happening about climate change. Good to see some commitment. Especially in my own school... Many people I know don't really care. Keep up the good work Anna. ;-) Adam, Cardiff.19:56 on Thursday 15th October 2009
I was thinking of you the other day and thought I must google you to see if I could get in contact....how very proud your parents must be to see you doing something so worthwhile....Well done you! Lovely to see your smiling face on all the photos! Love to you and your family. Emma Reed, St Albans 09:09 on Thursday 20th August 2009
Good to meet you yesterday, glad that you were able to come and visit us in the Eco Home Centre. Looking forward to seeing the photos!
Hope that you found the trip interesting and that the paint sample proved to be as good as described.
All the very best for the rest of the year and remember to keep up the great work for the rest of your life! We need people like yourselves so that my kids, and others, not to mention the rest of the flora and fauna on the planet do not suffer the upheavals, stress and chaos that rapid climate change can bring.
All the very best, Peter Draper, Cardiff.11:19 on Tuesday 4th August 2009
Hi Anna. Great website and thanks for the good work your doing.
I work for Christian Aid in SE Wales and I'm helping to organise a Climate Change conference at the City Hall in Cardiff on September 22nd. Its aimed specifically at churches and other faith communities in the City to try to get them to wake up to the challenges of Climate Change. It would be great if we could get you involved, as a young person who lives in the City and is already obviously environmentally aware. If your interested and want to know more, our office is on 5 Station Road, Radyr, give me a ring on 2084 4646 or call in any time. Robin Samuel, Radyr, Cardiff.10:05 on Friday 24th July 2009
Hi Anna, excellent website it is really well thought out! I am the Energy Awareness Officer for Schools in Cardiff and have visited your school this week. We are planning on doing some energy efficiency works at your school this summer, which should save lots of CO2 emissions. Anyway, I will be working with all secondary schools from September onwards. If you wanted to drop me a line I could discuss ways in which we could help your school get its green flag and have an energy campaign involving lots of pupils and teachers. Cheers, Becca :) Rebecca, Cardiff.21:10 on Monday 20th July 2009
Anna, you can recycle your mobile phone at www.christianaid.org.uk of if you want to sell it put recycle mobile phones in your search engine and you will get a whole load of places where you can sell it. Good luck.
You are to be complemented on your website, great to see one so young concerned about the environment. All church members should be involved in this, I am trying to get everyone to recycle at Newcastle church, we are even getting a textile bin for a children's charity. Janice (almost an OAP)! Hi Anna. Delighted to read of your baptism in a perusal of the latest BUC online Messenger, as well as about your eco interests. Guess you will have hard work to convince our Martin of the threat to the planet as he is a convinced sceptic! Keep up the good work and wishing you every success as you await important exam results. Better than that, I will remember you in prayer - not that I can necessarily do anything to change what I expect to be excellent results anyway, but that I may be able to help any anxiety you have towards the outcome by praying peace for your heart. Here's praying. God bless. John Ferguson, Grantham.13:25 on Friday 17th July 2009
