If you ever go food shopping with your parents, look out for some great eco-bargains that you can get. I went recently, and spotted this eco-friendly 'bathroom paper' (toilet-roll) that was made out of 100% recycled paper! Isn't that cool! And it was actually cheaper than the normal 'own brand' stuff. Also, I found some 100% degradable bin bags. I think they were pretty cheap too. It’s surprising what you can find if you are looking out for it.
Mobile Phones
I’m not too great with mobiles, and the one I use to have I bought from a friend for £10 about 5 years ago. It was getting a bit old and slow, but I didn’t really fancy buying a new one. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I met up with my best friend, who had just got a new phone (do you see where I’m going…?). She wasn’t doing anything with her old phone, and I suggested I could take it off her hands. She was only too happy to get rid of it. This is great for the environment, as its reusing instead of buying a brand new one. I’ve still got my old phone, and am currently looking for somewhere that recycles them. If you have any suggestions… just leave it on my feedback page.
Also, I’m not sure you’ve heard of it, but Sony has released a new mobile recently that cuts its carbon footprint by 15%! They have done this by reducing the amount of disposable packaging, used water based soluble ink and 80% of the hard plastic on it can be recycled. Eco-Friendly Hairdryer
Back in February, for my birthday I got an eco-friendly hairdryer. It uses a load less energy than normal hairdryers, so I thought I would give it a go. I have had it for over a month now, and I am really pleased with it! I thought the power would be compromised because of its 'eco-friendliness' but absolutely not. It has two heat settings, two power settings a ‘turbo’ button and a detachable nozzle for the end. I found the long cord really useful and I loved the colour scheme… green! My favourite colour! And, it came in eco-friendly packaging. I hear you saying it sounds too good to be true, there must be something wrong with it. I only have one small criticism… it takes slightly longer to heat up than normal hairdryers, but come on… that’s nothing really. I have found it totally marvellous and I would DEFINITELY recommend it. Oh, and by the way, I got mine in Boots for just under £20 (bargain!) but I'm sure you could get one in most shops like that. Just keep your eyes peeled!
Eco Easter Eggs
Don't you just get fed up of all that un-necessary packaging whenever you get an Easter egg?? They seem to drown in it! This really annoys me as it is simply not needed. So this year… I decided things have to change. Funnily enough it wasn’t too hard! We did manage to get some chocolate eggs FREE OF PACKAGING!!! (From ASDA, but I’m sure you can pick them up anywhere…within reason!). And guess what?! They were only a pound each!! BARGAIN!! And if you think chocolate eggs are a bit boring, other things are available too. We also got a little chocolate chick filled with chocolate buttons. It was a little more expensive than the eggs, but I have had a little nibble and it's worth it! So, what are you waiting for??
